Ada Jafri Early life and Education:
She had born as Aziz Jahan in Badayun, U.P, on August 22, 1924. When she was just 3 years old, her father passed away. So, her mother brought her up. She started writing at the age of 12. On January 29, 1947 she married Nurul Hassan Jafri in Lucknow. Her husband served as a civil servant in Federal Government of India. After the Independence in 1947, she along with her husband relocated to Pakistan and settled in Karachi. Nurul Hassan Jafri also used to write columns for Newspaper, English as well as Urdu. He died on December 3, 1995.
The major subject of her poetry was feminism. She had written the experiences of his life as a mother and a wife in his poetry. The genre of her poetry included Ghazals, Short essay, Free verse and Haiku. In 1945, he published her first ghazal in Akhtar Sherani Magazine.

Awards and Achievement:
She had acknowledged as “Outstanding Female Poet of Century” in 1955 by Hamdard foundation. In 1967, she had awarded Adamjee Literary Award. Also, in 1981, she received the Medal of Excellence from Governmnet of Pakistan. Furthermore, Pakistna Academy of Letters awarded her Baba e Urdu, Dr. Moulvi Abdul Haq Award and Quaid e Azam Literary award in 1994 and 1997 respectively. She also received the Pride of Performace Award in 2003.
At the age of 90, she died in Karachi on March 12, 2015. She laid to rest at PECHS graveyard, Jamshed Town, Karachi. May Allah rest her soul in peace.
