Saleem Kousar, a well-known Urdu poet from Pakistan. Also, he had authored various poetry books. Along with the books, he had written different title songs for TV plays. Furthermore, he visited around the world to attend poetry gatherings. The genre of his work was ghazals.

Saleem Kousar Early life and Education:

He had born as Muhammad Saleem in Panipat, India in August 1947. After independence in 1947, he along with his family moved to Pakistan. In Pakistan, he settled in Khanewal, Punjab. From there, he got his primary as well as secondary education. Later, his family went to Kabeerwala then they shifted to Karachi in 1972. In Karachi, before working in PTV (Pakistan Television), he worked in different newspaper. 

Poetic career:

In Kabeerwala, he met with famous national poets and inspired from them. So, he started learning and practicing Urdu poetry.  During the time, when he was working for newspaper, he started writing Qat’aas (quatrains), one of the type of Urdu poetry. He became more famous because of his ghazal “mein khayal hun kesi r ka”. This ghazals had sung by several singers. Also, to attend the poetry gatherings he travelled to different counties including India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark, Doha, and Middle East.
